Hey guys! 🙂
Hope you all had a great weekend with a lots of fun! My weekend has been pretty good. My best friend are flying back tonight, so her last weekend has been spent mostly at the beach.

We have also been enjoying some amazing food, as the Acai bowl at the Surfhouse, that is a restaurant next to the beach. I have been there two times now, and it’s really good! If you ever go to Barcelona, you should give it a try.

IMG_20180930_191953_921We haven’t just been lazy, we have also been at the gym Saturday morning. That is the best way to start the day if you ask me. Something with the energy you get after a great session, don’t you agree?

Right now we are soon going out to have our last dinner together, and Ingvild’s brother that happened to be in Barcelona the same time is joining too.

Even tough Ingvild is leaving tonight doesn’t mean I gonna be left with no visitors. Tomorrow my love is coming to spend one week with me. I’m so excited for that, I miss him way too much!

living out of comfort zone

_DSC7873

So, I decided to join the exchange program the day they had the information meeting about it. That was a really quick decision I made, and honestly I didn’t surprise myself, haha. I’m one of those persons that absolutely love new adventures, especially if they put me a bit out of my comfort zone.

And is not the first time I have done these kind of things, moving to another country. Even though I have the experience, it’s always a little scary, especially this time if I am being totally honest. It was only one other girl going to Barcelona too, we didn’t know each other from before. And then it’s the main reason for the trip, working at a hospital in a another country with a language that I’m still trying to learn. All this question went through head during the summer, like what if they don’t speak any english? what if the other girl and I don’t get along? what if…

_DSC7874

Now, I’m here on my 3th week. So far I can already answer some of my own questions. The other girl and I get along, communication is key! We haven’t been so lucky when it comes to where we live. The apartment isn’t as expected, the roof at the bathroom has been leaking, the beds are super bad, the apartment isn’t easy to keep clean, and the neighborhood is NOISY. I mean after 2 years in Mexico City I though I knew what noisy was, but I guess not, here it’s worse. So we are currently looking for a new place to stay, if we don’t find anything, we will anyhow do the best out of it.

When it comes to work I’m really happy. My friend and I work at a children hospital here in Barcelona. I love the building and how they have designed this hospital. Everything is playful and colorful. The people don’t talk any english, but somehow it works. They are all very nice, and being able to work with children is so giving.

The city itself is amazing. Barcelona has something for everyone. It has beautiful buildings, beach life, shopping, amazing food and it’s sunny.

I’m very excited for the following weeks to come. One thing is for sure, when stepping out of the comfort zone like this, living in a foreign country, you will learn so much, and mostly about yourself. I have never grown more as a person as the two years spent in Mexico City far away from little Norway.

If you ever have an opportunity to do something a bit out of comfort zone, don’t let fear stop you. No matter how it goes, it will give you lessons in life that for sure will make you grow as a human.

10 reasons why I love fall

So the summer is over, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t be excited for the following season. Even though I love a warm summer day, being able to just wear a little dress and some sandals, I do somehow really love the fall. I have always done that. Under you find 10 reason why I welcome fall with open arms.

1: The beautiful colors

The colors of the trees, it’s the most beautiful mix of red, orange, green, brown and yellow. A nice sunny autumn day with a blue sky is simply the best.

2: It’s finally sweater weather!

I love a comfy sweater during the colder months. Finding the perfect one for your wardrobe isn’t a problem, the stores has plenty of all types. Right now I have a timeless cashmere sweater on my wish list.

3: Enjoying hot drinks without sweating

One fun fact about me, I’m a huge tea drinker! I love all kinds of teas. And one of my favorite thing is to sit inside enjoying a cup of delicious tea while it’s cold outside.

4: Fall- scented candles

Time to switch the summer smells, with something else. I’m obsessed with candles, it just make a home so much more cozy and personal. Typically fall scents would be vanilla, cinnamon, Chai, pumpkin etc. Honestly I really want a Jo Malone candle, but they definitely are more on the luxurious side.

5. Playing in the leaves

Being a child again and dancing in the leaves when enjoying a walk with someone you care about. Spending time in nature and appreciate it has for sure a therapeutic effect.

6. Soup season

I love making food, and even more I love enjoying a good meal. In the colder months, I prefer warm food over cold. One of my favorite meals for fall is a warm soup served with some bread. The options of recipes are endless! It’s a soup for all diets and tastes. I personally eat mostly plant based, so I prefer a vegan or vegetarian option. A favorite is sweet potato soup or Thai soup with noddles, yum!

7. Good series back on tv with new seasons!

When the summer is over, finally the new seasons come back on the screen. Honestly, I’m not the biggest tv slave, but one series that I’m obsessed about is Suits. If you havn’t seen it yet, lucky you, I wish I could see it all again for the first time!

8. Flannel PJ’s

Have a nice flannel PJ that you can snuggle in and stay cozy at home is a must!

9. Red wine season

Enjoying a glass (or two, haha) with a good red wine with family, good friends or the person you love, is one of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday night during the fall. It can be together with a great meal or just by it self. Amarone is one of my favorite wines.

10. Closer to Christmas!

When the fall is here we know the Christmas is not so far away. Christmas is that one month during the year with most traditions, and I love it! For me Christmas is a colorful time, well spent with people you love, delicious food, music and following all the traditions. And of course, Christmas shopping!

I hope you found some reason to love fall too.

Parc de la Ciutadella

Good morning!

One thing I love when living in bigger cities like Barcelona, is that it is always something new to see or do. Yesterday it wasn’t super shiny, so my friend Ingvild and I decided to switch out the beach for a park. Parc de la Ciutadella is a idyllic and very green oasis. It has a cozy little lake in the middle were you can rent a little rowing boat if you like. Full of birds singing in the trees. Basically it’s the perfect place to go for a walk, a  run, to enjoy a picnic or just sit down and relax as we did. For the occasion I used my new flower dress that I found at HM last week. I find this dress to be a perfect dress for fall because of the color of it, and it’s also a dress that can easily be dressed up or down.

Find the dress here.

After a while we discovered that it was  a food festival going on at one part of the park. Of course we had to check that out, it’s food and we are for sure big foodies, haha! The area was full of small cute vans that sold all type of food. We went for a vegetarian burger, that by the way tasted amazing! This food festival was a part of the La Merce festival that is the biggest festival here in Barcelona. These days people have been dancing in the streets, playing music and celebrating. It’s crazy but fun.

Have a beautiful day people.

Hair talk

Is it anything worse than waking up with a bad hair day? I’m sure it is, haha, but we all know how frustrating it is! For the last 3 months my hair have been very dry and damaged. I think it’s because of a higher stress level. Finally I have decided to step up my game to get my shine back on it.

Shiny hair comes from how you treat yourself internally and externally. So these days I’m trying to be extra healthy to be sure that I get all the essential vitamins. I also make sure I get enough proteins during the day. The right nutrition will help me to grow back a strong, shiny and healthy hair.

To maximize the process I make sure to use good quality hair products. For me that includes the right shampoo and conditioner, a hydrating mask once a week and a oil that I put on my ends every night before bed. I also try not to wash my hair too often and try to reduce the use of heat.

My favorite oil is for sure the Moroccan oil, it’s just amazing, it truly helps my hair to stay soft.

IMG_0116.jpg

I have been using the Moroccanoil hair masks for many years now. At this period when my hair need some extra hydration I’m currently using their smoothing mask. This is a highly concentrated argan butter hair mask with hydrating ingredients like argan butter, argan oil and coconut-derived fatty acids. I use it once a week for 30 minutes.

If you also suffer from dry hair like me, I’m sure you would love this mask and their oil too!

If you have any tips, let me know in the comment below.

How I spent my birthday in Barcelona

Hi guys!

At the 20th of September, I turned 29 years old. Can’t believe that next year I’m leaving the twenties and enter the thirties! But honestly I don’t stress about my age, is just a number, right? If you ask me, age is all about your mindset.

I started my birthday at school and the rest of the day my best friend plan out for us. We went to a restaurant next to the beach, with the most beautiful view! We had a tasty vegetarian fig and feat cheese salad and of course some vino. The evening was well spent at the beach with some bubbles, before we ended the night at a Vegan friendly restaurant. Here in Barcelona it’s so easy to live plant based, the options is endless. I will make a vegan guide for you guys from Barcelona.

La buena vida

_DSC7604

Hola from Barcelona!

I can’t believe this city, it’s simply amazing. Some days ago my best friend from Norway came to visit me, so we have had great time turisting in the city. If only I could describe Barcelona with two words, it would be alive & cultural. It basically have all you want and need!

Yesterday we met two friends for lunch at the Surfhouse restaurant. Wow, the best Acai bowl I’ve ever had. Great place if your vegan or vegetarian or just want to stay healthy (PS: its’s located next to the beach, so you also get a great view). Later my friend and I took a walk at the promonade, enjoyed a glass of wine next to the beach and absorbed the vitamin D from the sun. That’s what I call a great day.

Wish I could share the sun with all you back home in Norway that has probarbly forgot what the sun felt like!
