A must have in my makeup bag!

For me makeup is all about getting that GLOW! Personally, I’m always focused on my skin and how to get a radiant healthy look. One of my absolute favorite glow products is the Strobe cream from MAC cosmetics in the color Goldlite or peachlite. This  is a cream that not only gives your skin a glow, it also treat your skin with nutritious vitamins such as green tea. You can use it in different ways, like mixing it with your foundation, use it as a high lighter, or like I do, use a thin layer all over your face before applying your foundation. Try it, it really lift up you look and make your skin look more healthy and glowy!

Chocolate, a beauty food!

Hi guys! Today I will share with you a delicious chocolate smoothie that I’m sure all of you chocolate lovers out there gonna love! The secret ingredient is of course raw cacao powder. We are not using any regular sugar-filled chocolate, we are using chocolate that benefits you with good nutrition. Worth mention is that raw cacao is a powerhouse of antioxidants and it also contain nutrients like magnesium, iron, chromium and zinc to mention some of the health-giving qualities found in this delicious superfood! With one of the highest measured antioxidant (ORAC) capacities, cacao helps protect your cells from oxidation and aging, so chocolate is actually a beauty food!

Recipe:

  •  4 dl almond milk
  • 2 tsp raw cacao powder
  • 1 tsp maca powder (optimal)
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (I used a plant based one)
  • 1 frozen banana

Blend it in a high speed blender and enjoy!

This smoothie is perfect when you feel for something sweet or if you need some extra energy during the day or before a workout.

2019, personal growth

Hi guys! I hope you all had a great new year celebration. I spent the new years eve with my family, so nice since I was away from them all Christmas. So weird to think that we just started a new year! I feel that this is a period that many of us do reflect over our lives, what we have achieved so far, how we feel and so on. For me 2018 was a year were I learned a lot about myself in so many ways, and about friendships and people around me.

I don’t have any specific new year’s resolutions for this year. I choose to focus on the small things I can do every day that will give me a little bit more joy and happiness on a daily basis. I truly believe that if we do small things every day that makes us happy or fill us with positivity, it will make a huge difference in our life.

Under is a list over what I want to do more of or start doing this year to become the best and happiest version of myself!

Getting back on track with my healthy habits: If it’s one thing I’m really interested in it must be health and lifestyle. For me to feel energized, motivated and good about myself, I need to take care of my body from the inside out. When I eat lots of greens, fresh juices, plant based meals and drink enough water, I truly feel a positive difference in my body and mind! I will also get back to a good workout routine. This year I want to mix up my workout with doing a mix of weight lifting, running, hiking, yoga, pilates and dancing. Workout for me should be fun, keep me active and give me a functional body.

Spending more quality time with people that I want to keep in my life: Be aware of who you spend your time with. Sometimes you have to be selfish to “protect” your positivity and your own happiness. Who you surround yourself with will have a huge impact on your energy level. For me it’s important that I can be myself, be honest  and be accepted for who I am. I want to surround myself with people who makes me feel good in their company. Since I spent much time of 2018 away from my home, I will make it a priority to spend more quality time with my beloved ones this year.

 

Be more creative: I always feel good when I’m using my creative side, it fills me with positivity. This includes everything from trying out new recipes in the kitchen or finding new outfits or playing around with new makeup looks. Or maybe try something new as a DIY project, like making some home decoration etc.

Staying organized: This is a must for me to feel my best. I’m one of those persons that loves to have a to do list, and gets very satisfied when I can cross out each thing on that list! I like to keep things around me clean and organized. We just had a huge clean- out of our closet just before new years, and it felt so good, haha!

Self love: Practice self love is so important and can make a huge different in your everyday happiness. Taking care of yourself like you would take care of a person you love. Smile to yourself and tell yourself nice things. Be your own best friend!

This was my list of things that I’m gonna focus on this year to make me the best version of myself. I hope it gave you some thoughts around these things or some inspiration to do more things of what makes you happy.

Good bye 2018

Hi guys! Long time no see. First of all, I hope you all had a magical Christmas with your beloved ones. I haven’t been blogging for a long time, but I decided to do so, so I could brainstorm and decide how I want my blog to be in the future. This will not be an everyday blog about my life, let’s face it, my everyday is not like a Hollywood glamours life with a lot of drama that would keep you interested in knowing everything. My goals with this blog is to spread motivation and inspiration. I will try to update my blog 1 -2 times a week. You will find anything from healthy recipes, training, beauty, fashion or mindfulness. I want this blog to have positive vibes (non existent perfection), that you can find inspiring or even learn new stuff!

Well, let’s do a little update about my last period. So much have been going on. As you might see on the photo I have cut my hair short, like a long bob (after 10 years of having long hair)!! But I’m really happy with it, it feels so nice and fresh! I finished my practice in Barcelona and moved back home to Bergen, finally! But just after one week at home I did pack my stuff again and joined my boyfriend and his family to spend the Holiday in Sweden with them. It have been so nice! Too much food, a lot of candy, wine almost every day, jacuzzi under the stars, family time, relaxing and just enjoying the festive season. The weather was perfect, frozty like a winter wonderland with the most magical sunsets (see the photos).

I can’t believe we are so close to end of this year. Are you ready to leave 2018 behind? Honestly, for me this have been the toughest year in my life in many ways and I feel so ready to put this year behind me. I do have personal goals for the next year to come, like working on my personal development. More on that in a future post.

My favorite highlighters

Hi my loves! I hope you all are great. Today I wanna talk about my absolute favorite step when doing my makeup. It’s the step that makes all the difference. That little extra that gives us that healthy looking fresh glow that we all want. Yes, it’s highlighter! Of course, nothing can ever compare to the healthy glow you get through a healthy lifestyle with a healthy diet, enough sleep etc. But it’s something I just love about the finish when using a highlighter, it’s like putting the final cherry on the cake, haha!

I always put my highlights on the high points of my face where the sun would naturally hit.

  • Cheekbones. I use to put it above the apple of my cheeks, a little bit above the area I apply the blush.  I also like to apply it upward toward my temples, that gives you a really nice glowy effect.
  • Center of my nose. A little goes a long way here. You don’t want to overdo it! I normally use my little finger to apply here, because I feel I have more control then.
  • Brown-bones. A little bit of highlighter under your brown-bones really do gives you a more open or lifted look if you like.
  • Center of your chin. This is also a perfect place to apply highlighter to bring some extra light to you face.
  • Cupids bow. Yes to more plumped looking lips. This is the are right above the center of your upper lip. It really gives a nice effect with some extra shine here.

Let’s start with the one I’m sure many of you have heard of or even tried yourself, Mac’s “soft and gentle”. This is a multi-mineral complex with a little peachy bronze to it I would say. It’s easy to apply and it doesn’t scream to loud if you know what I mean. It’s a nice everyday highlighter. Or if you want a more beaming glow for an evening look, you can spray your brush with a setting spray before applying it to your face.

Another highlighter I have been using a lot the last two years is “watt’s up” from Benefit. This is a stick that makes it easier to apply, especially on your cheekbones. It has a very nice champagne glow that I absolutely love! It gives your a soft and delicate finish.

Then over to a more new product of mine that’s called “Hollywood beauty light wand” by Charlotte Tilbery. This is a beautiful rose gold highlighter that gives you a soft finished. What I like is that it doesn’t have visible glitter, that makes the highlight look more natural. It’s also comes in a tube form that makes it very nice and easy to apply.

Then over to a more warm and goldish highlighter that I absolutely adore! It’s “Amerzy” by Anastasia Beverly Hills. This is a limited edition product, but as far as I know it will be back on the marked in not too long (I think). This is a very smooth and buttery highlighter that I find blends very easy. It has a very good pigmentation! I really adore this product!

Then last highlighter I wanna mention is Beccas’s “Champagne pop”. As you can tell I love champagne toned highlighters. This does have a little gold in it as well I would say. Is just so beautiful! It’s also  buttery and soft with great pigmentation. A little goes a long way. Becca cosmetics really have some awesome highlighters, you should check them out!

I love makeup! I do feel very comfortable in my own skin and I don’t have any problem to walk out of my house with no makeup at all. It is important to feel good in your naturally skin I think. But makeup is a very fun and creative way to express yourself, your mood or just having a lot of fun creating a look! So go and get your glam on and shine!

The perfect Christmas Calendar for him

Hi my loves! Have you guys started to think about Christmas presents and stuff, or is it just me? Last Christmas I made my boyfriend a Christmas calendar. He really liked it (as far as I know, haha!) Those things takes time to plan, buy and make, so it’s better to start early, right? This year I wont make any, since I’m in Barcelona and wont be home before the middle of December. Sorry my love. But, I want to share with you what I bought last year, so maybe you get some inspiration. It doesn’t need to cost a fortune! I did buy some small thing and some bigger things. After all, its the thoughts behind it that matters, not the price. Whatever fits your budget.

– He’s favorite chocolate or other candy!

– A small bottle of bubbles (nice to get on the weekends)

– A “present card” with massage by you (of course)! Before this one, give him a massage oil as a gift.

– Plan out something you gonna do together, and write it as a note. For example, Christmas baking or decorating a gingerbread house, so much fun!

– A bottle of wine that you two can share and have a romantic evening with, with some candles and good food. Quality time is so important in a relationship.

– Lottery tickets. What I did was that I decided what he was gonna buy if he won. I had 4 different lottery tickets (one each week), and wrote one destination to travel to on each of them (with a printed photo of the places). sadly we didn’t win anything, hehe.

– Find a candy bar or a chewing gum packet with a word that you can  use to write a nice little note.

– Get him a new coffee cup with photos of the two of you on it.

– Buy him a very nice and sexy lingerie for yourself and write a little note. Of course he’s gonna love to see you in it (and to take it off later on). Red is always a popular color among most men!

– Beauty products. If your boyfriend doesn’t use moisturizer, it’s a great way to introduce him to it, haha! Or buy him a nice smelling shower gel or  some hair products.

– It can also be something as little notes where you tell him something beautiful or things that you promise to do (like cooking, cleaning the house that week etc). It doesn’t need to be things you spend a lot of money on.

Self love

Hi my loves! I hope you all had a wonderful day filled with positivity and joy. Today I wanna talk to you about self love. It’s something we all hear a lot about, but something we often forget to practice, me included. It is so important to treat yourself with respect, love and kindness, just as you would treat the people you love.

Today social media is taking over so much of our time. We daily look at photos on Instagram, Facebook etc. and start to look at what everyone else have that we wish for ourselves. I know so many can even get depressed because of that. I feel it is so sad that it has gone so far. For me social media is a great platform to find inspiration or motivation or learn something new. But of course, on bad days when you feel very low in energy, it is so easy to start to criticize yourself, I know.

Social media is just one area we face daily. What about work and other scenarios in life? This period here in Spain has been really hard for me during my practice at the children hospital. You know the feeling when you’re coming into a room and no one see you or say hello to you? that have been so many days for me. I’m trying to do my best, but I never get any praise, just inputs on what I can improve. This is just a little intro to my days here, and it has really effected me in the most negative ways. I started to be hard on myself and felt so low on energy. But you know what? I decided to put a stop on that negative feeling. No, I can’t choose how these people gonna act and treat other people, but I can choose how I handle it and how I let it effect me. I won’t let anyone else take away my joy or happiness just like that. Happiness isn’t something that comes knocking on the door, we have to work for it, specially when things are a little bit harder. Under I listed some thing that I like to do to boost my mood.

  • Put on some music that make you wanna dance!
  • Pampering yourself. Use 15 extra minutes to put on a sheet mask while drinking a nice cup of tea.
  • Before going to bed, say 3 things you are grateful for that day.
  • Search for something that inspires you to do better. For me that could be listening to a podcast about healthy living and well being.
  • Stop criticizing yourself when looking in the mirror! Smile to yourself

These are just some things I try to do to boost up my mood, and it does help! Try it for yourself, you deserve it! Remember the importance of self appraising and lifting yourself up when doing your best.
