Tourist in Barcelona

Good morning guys! The two last days I have been doing a lot of tourists stuff with my parents here in Barcelona. It has been a lot of fun and I’m so glad that I went to these places, because these places is so beautiful I have no words! I’m a little nerd when it comes to old history in Europe I have to admit, haha! I love old architecture, it’s just something so unique about it!

Palau de la musica catalan

Palau de la musica is a concert hall in Barcelona designed by the architect Lluis Domènech i Montaner between 1904 and 1908. If you go to Barcelona you should visit this place. The whole building is so beautiful, with a lot of details. They still use this hall to have concerts, and it has been many of the biggest artists in history that has performed on this stage.

Parc Guell

The Park Güell is a public park system composed of gardens and architectonic elements located on Carmel Hill. This parc is so cozy and beautiful! It is a very green parc with some really cool architecture. Also you get a beutiful view over the city. Even if you don’t want to pay to enter, the area around the parc is so nice. The perfect place to just go for a walk, listening to birds and enjoying the view. Love this parc!

Tourist bus

We also took a city tour bus. It was really nice. I do recommend you to take one tour too if you come here. I always like to take one of these city tour by bus when I visit big cities. It gives me a good overview of the city I feel. On this trip we did see some miraculous buildings.

I hope you all are had a great week, and yes, finally it’s Friday! Enjoy!

Hi guys! I hope you all are doing well. This night my head just wouldn’t fall asleep at all. The last time I took a look at the watch it was 5 am!! Anyways, I did get up 8.30 am to spend as much time as I could with my parents, who arrived yesterday. I’m so happy they are here so that I can get one week of quality time with them, yay! Only thing is that I have to go to work in the hospital at 15.00.. But we did had a great morning together. It started with a delicious breakfast at their Hotel. After that I showed them La Rambla, the big tourist street here in Barcelona, and we went all the way down to the beach. The weather has been absolutely perfect today. The sun is shining and I have been feeling energized (even with so few hours of sleep)! Before I had to go to work we went for a lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Enkel. I had this delicious Buddha bowl and a detox green juice. That’s what I call a perfect lunch.

Well, now it’s 22.45 pm, and I will try to get some sleep (finger crossed). Have a good night.

Pampering myself

20181013_220242

My interest for beauty products started when I was a little girl. I always loved to smell all the products I came across when I went with my parents to the grocery store. I clearly remember one shampoo that I just loved so much! It was a yellow bottle, a special shampoo for kids, do you know the one? hehe. And let me tell you, the interest for beauty products kept growing, I guess you can call me a beauty junkie today! Since I was 16 years old I have tried to make a home spa once a week. Normally Sundays is the perfect day for that. Under I’m giving you my tips of how to make a real pamper yourself kind of day step by step.

Create the right atmosphere

For me it is so important that the space around me is clean and organized so that I can be able to relax and enjoy my pampering time. That’s why I normally clean the house before the weekend, so that it’s ready for my spa. To get in the relaxing mood I like to put on some chill background music and light up some candles. Sometimes I like to put on some instrumental music, it’s so relaxing, try it!

The little extra in the shower

On my spa day I’m using a hair mask between the shampoo and the conditioner. For the moment I love the hair masks from Moroccanoil! while my hair mask is doing it’s job, I like to shave and then scrub my whole body. For my face I love the Kora organics exfoliating cream and for my body I change between Frank body coffee scrub and my own homemade one. To make a homemade scrub, just mix brown sugar with extra virgin coconut oil (smells delicious). I promise you, after this your body will feel soft like a baby!

Time for creams and facials

For my everyday body lotion I love any of the Niva’s. But for my pampering day I like to make it a little extra. Honestly, I love to try out new products, so I don’t have one special that I always use. I do love many of the body butters from The body shop, like Hawaiian Kuki cream. I always wanted to try one of the body sufflè creams from Laura Mercier, but they do cost and are more on the luxurious side.

Well, you’r now done with the body and your face is fresh and clean. Let’s have some fun, it’s mask time! I love face masks. On my spa day’s I normally do two different masks, one that deep cleans my face and one that hydrating my face. My skin type is dry. I don’t have a acne prone skin or oily skin, but my skin can get super dry!

My favorite clay mask is Exuviance purifying clay masque. This mask feels like it has an detoxifying effect at the same time that it doesn’t dry my skin out. It contains Kaolin to absorb surface oils and Pro-Vitamins A, C and E for antioxidant protection and conditioning benefits.

Exuviance-Purifying-Clay-Masque-30

When it comes to a good hydrating mask, I have been trying a few, but one I have used several times and that I love is the multivitamin power recovery masque by Dermalogica. This mask has a powerful bled of concentrated vitamin A, C, E and F. It’s the perfect mask for dehydrated and dry skin. I sometimes use it as a sleeping mask over night. And my skin really feels softer after.

The power of now

When I’m having a me time, I try to do the best I can to de-stress and just let my body and mind relax. I prefer to put away my phone, just listening to instrumental music, meditate and enjoy a warm cup of calming tea. Try to be present, focus one breathing and relaxing.

I hope this post inspired you to paper your self and giving yourself some time off.

Where to eat in Barcelona

I have now been in Barcelona a while and I have been trying out some various restaurants by now. So if you are a foodie and want to know some great places to eat here in Barcelona, just keep up reading my friend!

First of all, I should mention that I eat mostly a plant based diet that doesn’t include any meat or fish. I also try to stay away from diary as much as possible. My choices of eating like I do, won’t be the focus on this post, let’s talk about the restaurants. Don’t worry, these places I’m gonna mention does not only serve vegan or vegetarian food!

Flax and Kale/ Teresa Carles

IMG_20180916_174653_953

The reason I put these two restaurants under one, is because it’s the same owner and the same kind of style when it comes to the food and the place. These two places must be my favorites! These places are both very popular places, always people, but you don’t have to wait forever to get a table. The food is really fantastic! The menu is not only for vegetarians. I have only tried the vegan food and wow, they really know how to make food taste perfect. What I really can recommend is the taco from Flax and Kale, that is made out of a special fruit that replace the meat. Even my non vegetarian boyfriend loved it! The service is great, very friendly and kind. The price is good too. These restaurant’s is the perfect breakfast spot or a nice dinner  with friends or as a dating place (they have good wine)! Check out their homepage here for more info and photos.

Enkel

Enkel is the restaurant that is just under our apartment, that’s how we found it, hehe! It’s located in the gothic quarter, kind of hidden in one of the many small streets in this area. The restaurant’s looks kind of trendy and it has a cool vibe to it. The waiters is so kind and friendly and the price is good. The food is so amazing! Since it is so near, I have been there many times, tried different things, and every time I get surprised about how freaking good the food is! I guess that’s why it is so popular and always have people there. They have both meat, normal burgers, fish etc, and also a very good vegetarian friendly menu. The Buddha bowl is fantastic, so is the goat cheese salad. They serves fresh juices that is perfect if you go there for breakfast, or tasty wine if your out dining. Click here to see more from this place.

Surfhouse

Well, hello beach vibes! If you having a beach day and want some energy between sunbathing and playing in the waves, this is the place for you. It’s located right next to the beach and they have a big area outside, so you can enjoy your food while you’re listening to the ocean. The food is really good. Again, not only for vegetarians, but they have a great menu if you are plant based. For sure the best Acai bowl I have had so far! The price is good and the people are nice. It’s a very popular place, so you might have to wait some minutes to get table if you come around lunch time. Check out their side here.

Brunch and cake

Before moving to Barcelona I did search over my social media to look for vegan friendly places to eat. This was the one I found on Instagram, their profile looks amazing, so it was a sure thing that I got to try this place when getting here. They have 3 or 4 restaurants, I have been to two of them. Both times I had to wait about at least 30 min before getting a table. The place looks very cozy and cute as you see with all their flower decorations outside. My expectation to this place was kind of high! And who walked out disappointed? Yes… The food wasn’t that wow at all. Actually I couldn’t finish my vegan burger because I didn’t find it tasty (and let me tell you, I’m one of those persons that eats EVERYTHING, of course not now when I’m plant based, but you get the point). The service wasn’t that good, of curse, they constantly have a 30 min line of hungry people outside their door. The price was good though. If you want a super cute Instagram photo, this is your place. But, if you want good service, tasty food and more relaxing environment, this is not your place. Check out their side here

If you ever go to Barcelona and try out some of these places, I hope you’re pleased with my recommendation. It’s plenty of places to eat here, and I still have 8 weeks more, so it might come up more tips on that front later on.

The never ending journey

12169287_10156101763710277_1923903478_oHiking in Bergen. Photo by Ingvild Hovda

Isn’t it funny how your experience in life make you grow and change as a person? If you asked me 9 years ago how I felt about living my life in my home town Bergen, you would probably get an answer like; it’s not big enough here, too quiet, nothing exciting blahblahblah! Well, if you ask that same question today, 9 years later, after I have moved 14 times, lived in 4 countries and 6 different cities, your answer will be something totally different!

My journey stared in Denmark were I spent one year in an international gymnastic school. If I could describe that year with two word it would be unforgettable and fun! After that year I wanted to keep exploring, so I did. I moved to Mexico City with a plan to start my nutrition studies there. It didn’t went exactly as I planned, but one thing was certain, I did grow so much as a person during that year! The following years I kept up with traveling while I studied because my schools have been located in other cities. In 2014 when I came back from my second year in Mexico City I told myself that I would never ever move again. I was tired of moving, tired of not having one place I could call home and most of all I missed my family and friends like crazy!!

CIMG2654.JPGFrom my year in Mexico 2011

In 2016 I had to move again to start my bachelor in nursing. I was not sure if I wanted to do it, because I knew I didn’t want to move again! But I knew that I wanted to study more, so I decided to do it. After all, this time it wasn’t that far away, just 3 hours from Bergen. But this is even a smaller city than Bergen, so less things to do. During my first year I met my boyfriend, who lives in Bergen. A distance relationship started. The homesick feeling just overgrew inside me like a monster!  And it still does. Maybe some of you are thinking why I decided to spend 3 months in Barcelona if I’m that homesick? I have some personal reason why I decided to do so. Now when I’m here I do enjoy the city. It’s a big city with great shopping, restaurants, lot’s of people and night clubs etc.

IMG_0282Barcelona last week

But what I really realizes after my 9 years of experience of moving back and forth, is that the grass isn’t always greener on the other side. It might be better shopping, more restaurants, even more sun, but after all, none of this matter if you don’t feel like you’re home  and without the people that means the most to you. My biggest dream right now is to finish my education, move back to Bergen and start my life with the person I love and build a home together in the near future. Also being able to spend time with my family and friends more often. I’m so tired of missing them. Today, big cities doesn’t excite me as much, I prefer a more quiet city with less people. I really start to appreciate everything I took for granted before… like family time, mountains near by, drinking water from the sink, cooking in my own kitchen etc. Even the sun can’t change my mind. If the sun doesn’t shine, well, let’s dance in the rain!

This was a bit long post,  but you got know me a bit better I guess, more personal post.

Royalty inspired fashion

As I mention in a older post, I’m a super fan of Suits! I’m sure most of you have heard about Meghan Markle after the big royal wedding this summer? Well, if you didn’t know, she is one of the main characters in that series. Not only does she wear amazing outfits on the show, but her personal style is pretty inspiring too. She always looks elegant and classy, but at the same time chic. Under is some of my favorite looks of her (of course I needed to include her outfits on her weeding day too, she looked like a true princess)!

Right now it’s late, and it’s time to get my beauty sleep, haha! But I love to search for inspiration before sleep. Well, Good night guys!

A week full of love

IMG_0441

Hi guys!

As I mentioned on my last post, my boyfriend was on his way to visit me. I decided to not use any time blogging during his stay, just enjoying the moments and focusing on quality time with him. It has been one amazing week. During the week we stayed at a hotel in Barcelona. I had to go to work at the afternoon, but we tried to get as much as we could out of the mornings. We went shopping, eat at some great restaurants and just enjoyed the city.

IMG_0448

For the weekend we decided to go to a little place one hour from Barcelona, called Costa Brava. It’s a beautiful cozy little place. it was so nice to get out of the city for a bit. Less people and more quiet. The beach was really nice, just very wavy, haha. I got thrown off a big wave and ended up loosing my sunglasses that I have had for many years. Would have been fun to have photo of that, but I don’t. Sorry! But we enjoyed it a lot.

IMG_0343

IMG_0358

The only thing I didn’t like so much about Costa Brava, was that is was more or less the same menu at all the restaurants. We couldn’t find anything else other than pasta, pizza, paella and some meat.

But all in all it has been an amazing week, I’m really grateful that I got to spend this time with the person I love during my stay in Barcelona.

I hope you all are fine. I wish you a super start on your new week!
