Hi guys! I hope you all had a great new year celebration. I spent the new years eve with my family, so nice since I was away from them all Christmas. So weird to think that we just started a new year! I feel that this is a period that many of us do reflect over our lives, what we have achieved so far, how we feel and so on. For me 2018 was a year were I learned a lot about myself in so many ways, and about friendships and people around me.

I don’t have any specific new year’s resolutions for this year. I choose to focus on the small things I can do every day that will give me a little bit more joy and happiness on a daily basis. I truly believe that if we do small things every day that makes us happy or fill us with positivity, it will make a huge difference in our life.

Under is a list over what I want to do more of or start doing this year to become the best and happiest version of myself!

Getting back on track with my healthy habits: If it’s one thing I’m really interested in it must be health and lifestyle. For me to feel energized, motivated and good about myself, I need to take care of my body from the inside out. When I eat lots of greens, fresh juices, plant based meals and drink enough water, I truly feel a positive difference in my body and mind! I will also get back to a good workout routine. This year I want to mix up my workout with doing a mix of weight lifting, running, hiking, yoga, pilates and dancing. Workout for me should be fun, keep me active and give me a functional body.

Spending more quality time with people that I want to keep in my life: Be aware of who you spend your time with. Sometimes you have to be selfish to “protect” your positivity and your own happiness. Who you surround yourself with will have a huge impact on your energy level. For me it’s important that I can be myself, be honest  and be accepted for who I am. I want to surround myself with people who makes me feel good in their company. Since I spent much time of 2018 away from my home, I will make it a priority to spend more quality time with my beloved ones this year.

 

Be more creative: I always feel good when I’m using my creative side, it fills me with positivity. This includes everything from trying out new recipes in the kitchen or finding new outfits or playing around with new makeup looks. Or maybe try something new as a DIY project, like making some home decoration etc.

Staying organized: This is a must for me to feel my best. I’m one of those persons that loves to have a to do list, and gets very satisfied when I can cross out each thing on that list! I like to keep things around me clean and organized. We just had a huge clean- out of our closet just before new years, and it felt so good, haha!

Self love: Practice self love is so important and can make a huge different in your everyday happiness. Taking care of yourself like you would take care of a person you love. Smile to yourself and tell yourself nice things. Be your own best friend!

This was my list of things that I’m gonna focus on this year to make me the best version of myself. I hope it gave you some thoughts around these things or some inspiration to do more things of what makes you happy.

Good bye 2018

Hi guys! Long time no see. First of all, I hope you all had a magical Christmas with your beloved ones. I haven’t been blogging for a long time, but I decided to do so, so I could brainstorm and decide how I want my blog to be in the future. This will not be an everyday blog about my life, let’s face it, my everyday is not like a Hollywood glamours life with a lot of drama that would keep you interested in knowing everything. My goals with this blog is to spread motivation and inspiration. I will try to update my blog 1 -2 times a week. You will find anything from healthy recipes, training, beauty, fashion or mindfulness. I want this blog to have positive vibes (non existent perfection), that you can find inspiring or even learn new stuff!

Well, let’s do a little update about my last period. So much have been going on. As you might see on the photo I have cut my hair short, like a long bob (after 10 years of having long hair)!! But I’m really happy with it, it feels so nice and fresh! I finished my practice in Barcelona and moved back home to Bergen, finally! But just after one week at home I did pack my stuff again and joined my boyfriend and his family to spend the Holiday in Sweden with them. It have been so nice! Too much food, a lot of candy, wine almost every day, jacuzzi under the stars, family time, relaxing and just enjoying the festive season. The weather was perfect, frozty like a winter wonderland with the most magical sunsets (see the photos).

I can’t believe we are so close to end of this year. Are you ready to leave 2018 behind? Honestly, for me this have been the toughest year in my life in many ways and I feel so ready to put this year behind me. I do have personal goals for the next year to come, like working on my personal development. More on that in a future post.

I want to run this of by wishing you a very happy new year! Enjoy the last days of this year and let’s welcome the new year with open arms, positive mindset and lots of love!

The perfect Christmas Calendar for him

Hi my loves! Have you guys started to think about Christmas presents and stuff, or is it just me? Last Christmas I made my boyfriend a Christmas calendar. He really liked it (as far as I know, haha!) Those things takes time to plan, buy and make, so it’s better to start early, right? This year I wont make any, since I’m in Barcelona and wont be home before the middle of December. Sorry my love. But, I want to share with you what I bought last year, so maybe you get some inspiration. It doesn’t need to cost a fortune! I did buy some small thing and some bigger things. After all, its the thoughts behind it that matters, not the price. Whatever fits your budget.

– He’s favorite chocolate or other candy!

– Socks.. we all need them, but we never buy them!

– A small bottle of bubbles (nice to get on the weekends)

– A “present card” with massage by you (of course)! Before this one, give him a massage oil as a gift.

– Plan out something you gonna do together, and write it as a note. For example, Christmas baking or decorating a gingerbread house, so much fun!

– A bottle of wine that you two can share and have a romantic evening with, with some candles and good food. Quality time is so important in a relationship.

– Lottery tickets. What I did was that I decided what he was gonna buy if he won. I had 4 different lottery tickets (one each week), and wrote one destination to travel to on each of them (with a printed photo of the places). sadly we didn’t win anything, hehe.

– Find a candy bar or a chewing gum packet with a word that you can  use to write a nice little note.

– Buy him a very nice and sexy lingerie for yourself and write a little note. Of course he’s gonna love to see you in it (and to take it off later on). Red is always a popular color among most men!

– Beauty products. If your boyfriend doesn’t use moisturizer, it’s a great way to introduce him to it, haha! Or buy him a nice smelling shower gel or  some hair products.

– It can also be something as little notes where you tell him something beautiful or things that you promise to do (like cooking, cleaning the house that week etc). It doesn’t need to be things you spend a lot of money on.

Self love

Hi my loves! I hope you all had a wonderful day filled with positivity and joy. Today I wanna talk to you about self love. It’s something we all hear a lot about, but something we often forget to practice, me included. It is so important to treat yourself with respect, love and kindness, just as you would treat the people you love.

Today social media is taking over so much of our time. We daily look at photos on Instagram, Facebook etc. and start to look at what everyone else have that we wish for ourselves. I know so many can even get depressed because of that. I feel it is so sad that it has gone so far. For me social media is a great platform to find inspiration or motivation or learn something new. But of course, on bad days when you feel very low in energy, it is so easy to start to criticize yourself, I know.

Social media is just one area we face daily. What about work and other scenarios in life? This period here in Spain has been really hard for me during my practice at the children hospital. You know the feeling when you’re coming into a room and no one see you or say hello to you? that have been so many days for me. I’m trying to do my best, but I never get any praise, just inputs on what I can improve. This is just a little intro to my days here, and it has really effected me in the most negative ways. I started to be hard on myself and felt so low on energy. But you know what? I decided to put a stop on that negative feeling. No, I can’t choose how these people gonna act and treat other people, but I can choose how I handle it and how I let it effect me. I won’t let anyone else take away my joy or happiness just like that. Happiness isn’t something that comes knocking on the door, we have to work for it, specially when things are a little bit harder. Under I listed some thing that I like to do to boost my mood.

  • Put on some music that make you wanna dance!
  • Pampering yourself. Use 15 extra minutes to put on a sheet mask while drinking a nice cup of tea.
  • Before going to bed, say 3 things you are grateful for that day.
  • Search for something that inspires you to do better. For me that could be listening to a podcast about healthy living and well being.
  • Stop criticizing yourself when looking in the mirror! Smile to yourself

These are just some things I try to do to boost up my mood, and it does help! Try it for yourself, you deserve it! Remember the importance of self appraising and lifting yourself up when doing your best.

Welcome November

Hi guys! I hope you all are doing fine and enjoying life. Wow, I can’t believe we are already in November now, times flies by so fast! Today I want to share with you my goals for this month. I love making weekly and monthly goals. For me it’s a great way to reflect over things in my life; what I appreciate, what I wanna work on, and discover some new goals I wanna achieve. My goals always change. They all depends on were I find myself mentally and physically, and what energy level I have. It’s a good way to get to know yourself better and listening to your body.

1:  Getting back on track with my healthy eating habits

During the time here in Barcelona, I have been eating out a lot. It has been more wine and a little more unhealthy food than what I usually eat. Indulging every now and then is okay, but I do like to have a balance that makes me feel good. Also, the kitchen in this apartment makes cooking very limited. We don’t have a stove or much kitchen equipment. I miss my kitchen so much! But, no excuse right?

2: Reading books

I am not a person that just finish one book after another, I have to admit. But I do like to read, and especially this time of the year when it’s cold outside (yes, it gets cold in Barcelona too, haha). The next book I wanna read is by Dr. Nigma Talib, a naturopathic skin care and health expert. I have read it before, but it’s so good, I just love all about it!

3: Listening to more podcats

Recently I started to listen to some podcasts. Why haven’t I done that before? I love it! I’m sure you can find podcast about everything, so whatever matches your interests. These days I’m listening to a woman named Kimberly Snyder, who also is a health and wellness expert. I do have two of her books and I love her philosophy about health and wellness, so inspiring! What I love about podcast is that you can listen anytime; when going for a walk, training, cooking, while doing your makeup etc. You should try it!

4: Freshening up my makeup bag

Yes, the Holiday season is right around the corner, which means a lot of events and parties! What I love about Christmas season is that you really can play around with glitter and more heavy makeup looks than the other seasons. I do have a list of makeup products I wanna try out, so I will definitely make reviews on that later on.

5: Spending time with my family and my love

Yes, I’m actually going home in the end of November for a long weekend. It’s a reason I have to go back home, I might tell you guys later. But, I do get a few days to enjoy with my family and boyfriend. At that time it will be 7 weeks since last time I saw him, and I’m missing him like crazy already… Just thinking of him surrounding me with a hug makes me all jiggly inside! It’s crazy how much impact another person can have on your feelings, don’t you think?

That is my top 5 goals this month. I hope this might gave you some inspiration to makes some new goals and achievements.

Nurse life at a children’s hospital

Today has been a day with a lot of impressions and mixed feelings. On my blog it might look like I’m just on a long vacation, but you might know that the main reason I’m here is because of my studies. I’m working five days a week at a big children hospital here in Barcelona. The hospital has 10 floors, and I’m based at one of them. The floor I’m in is primary kinds that does operations that is not that big, or if they have some chronic conditions that needs some weekly care. Nothing too serious. You do see children who are afraid and feel bad, but at the same time you know most of these kids will be okay.

Today was different. I had to work in another floor with a different patient group. Just entering the floor I could feel the different energy in the air. Here I did see some kids really fighting for their life to survive! Just to mention one person that had been in a traffic accident that was unconscious. The only sign of life was some twitching of the body. This was a person that has not turned 18 years old yet! I was also with a little baby (less than 2 years), where it had been recently discovered a tumor on the back of the neck. Whether it is benign or malign is still unknown, but just imagine how afraid the parents must be to just wait for an answer like that! I could truly see the sadness, worry and panic in many of the parents eyes, and it affected me so much.

When we as nurses has to do some procedures on young kids that have no idea on what is going on and are totally terrified, it does something to you.  I sincerely do not have a word to describe the feeling or experience. You know that it is necessary, however it makes you feel downright evil and it leaves you feeling horrible throughout the shift. Today for example, there were several instances where I had to keep back the tears because all the impressions were both new and intense.  Some of children are screaming like crazy and moving around, so we and the parents have to hold them down when doing whatever has to be done. Today I really felt the pain off the parents to one of the babies when we did what we had to do. Even though we do what is best for the baby, it feels heartbreaking watching the baby screaming of fear and the despairing parents.

I will not make this a super long post, but I really felt for sharing my experience with you guys! These experiences really made me appreciate a good healthy life! It’s important to see what we got and be grateful for that.

Hi guys! I hope you all are doing well. This night my head just wouldn’t fall asleep at all. The last time I took a look at the watch it was 5 am!! Anyways, I did get up 8.30 am to spend as much time as I could with my parents, who arrived yesterday. I’m so happy they are here so that I can get one week of quality time with them, yay! Only thing is that I have to go to work in the hospital at 15.00.. But we did had a great morning together. It started with a delicious breakfast at their Hotel. After that I showed them La Rambla, the big tourist street here in Barcelona, and we went all the way down to the beach. The weather has been absolutely perfect today. The sun is shining and I have been feeling energized (even with so few hours of sleep)! Before I had to go to work we went for a lunch at one of my favorite restaurants, Enkel. I had this delicious Buddha bowl and a detox green juice. That’s what I call a perfect lunch.

Well, now it’s 22.45 pm, and I will try to get some sleep (finger crossed). Have a good night.
